The Wilson Lake Hydroelectric project is a run-of-canal
type facility utilizing the drop of an existing irrigation regulating dam on
the North Side
Main Canal
system near Eden, Idaho. A new power canal was constructed
from the dam's left abutment to convey water to the powerhouse about 1/4 mile
downstream of the dam. The intake, powerhouse and bypass were all constructed
as a single integral structure. The structure contains two horizontal pit
turbines with a combined capacity of 8.4 MW, and two bypass pipes controlled
by slide gates. Approximately 2.3 miles of the Main Canal
have been excavated to eliminate tailwater encroachment and increase net head
to the plant. Project began commercial operation in 1993. Operation and maintenance is performed by
Ida-West Operating Services, Inc.
